The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in Cyprus successfully facilitated the transfer of over 80 tons of humanitarian goods provided by the Misericordie d’Italia from Italy to Cyprus, ensuring their integration into the latest aid shipment destined for Gaza. After months of delay, the consignments have now been unblocked and are en route via the Cyprus humanitarian corridor (Amalthea Plan), under United Nations Mechanism 2720.

The ship departed on August 18, 2025, and arrived at the port of Ashdod, where the essential supplies will be distributed among the affected civilian population. Ambassador Domenico Giani, in his capacities as Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Cyprus and Chairman of the Misericordie of Italy, expressed gratitude to the Cypriot authorities, the multinational coordination cell, United Nations Mechanism 2720, and the Amalthea platform for their decisive role in making the transfer and onward dispatch possible.

“This aid is not only a response to material needs but also a sign of hope and solidarity,” Ambassador Giani affirmed, highlighting the commitment of the Order of Malta and the Misericordie to stand wherever humanitarian assistance is most needed.
